101 Things I've Been Fortunate To Experience

 
  1. Being present for the birth of my son
  2. The opportunity to speak to the people of Oslo for several years through Radio 1, and hopefully making a difference to sombody along the way
  3. Doing the same thing through P4 Radio to all of Norway
  4. Gone to the North Pole with Radio 1, and done the first ever live radiobroadcast from the top of the world on April 29th, 1993
  5. Traveled around the world for 3 months with my girlfriend and my then 6-9 months old son
  6. Hosted a series of live entertainment shows on saturday nights for the number 1 commercial TV-station in Norway (TV2)
  7. Hosted and co-produced a series of about 20 travelshows for Television (TVN)
  8. Broken the sound barrier, and flown at supersonic speed, while onboard the Concorde
  9. Gone a lot slower onboard a Dakota DC3 from 1943 over the Orinoco Delta
  10. Been visiting with native indian tribes deep inside the seaways of Orinoco
  11. Spent a week in the studio with the rock band Nazareth for the recording of their "Snakes and Ladders" album
  12. Surviving a planecrash
  13. Had a Nazareth-concert dedicated to me by the band, after I was in the plane crash but still made it to the concert in a hospitalbed acompanied by a nurse.
  14. Gone parashooting (tandem)
  15. Gone paragliding (off mountains as well as after boats)
  16. Surviving a major car crash
  17. Surviving a major motorcycle crash
  18. Owning my own boat
  19. Crossing the dateline
  20. Crossing the Polar Circle (several times)
  21. Meeting with His Majesty King Harald of Norway, Crownprince Haakon and Princess Märtha Louise
  22. Recording a song of the "Which Witch" album, singing duet with Benedicte Adrian of Dollie de Luxe (though never released - just for radio-use)
  23. Visiting the Grand Canyon
  24. Visiting the Pyramids and the Sphinx in Egypt
  25. Gotten certified as a Scuba Diver
  26. Scubadiving in the Red Sea, the Carribbean, the Indian Ocean, the Mediteranian and Bahamas, and had close encounters with sharks, dolphins, moray eels, and stingrays
  27. Attending the ABBA concert in Oslo, January 1977, all by myself (because I didn't dare to tell my rockin' friends I would)
  28. Attending the "Ultimate Event" concert in Oslo, Norway, seeing Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli and Sammy Davis Jr. perform together
  29. Visited DDR (East Germany, before it opened up it's borders)
  30. Attending Roger Waters "The Wall" concert in Berlin, just after the Berlin wall came down, along with almost 500.000 other people.
  31. Riding with a policecar during a nightshift in Spanish Harlem, New York City
  32. Attending the opening of the Norwegian Pavillion of Disney Worlds EPCOT center
  33. Attending the Pre-Opening and Grand Opening of EuroDisney in Paris
  34. Seeing the Mona Lisa in Louvre, and going it to the top of the Eiffel Tower
  35. Going through the channels of Venice, Italy in a gondola
  36. Rewritten and recorded a song for someone special (not released)
  37. Had a song written and recorded especially for me (not released)
  38. Working with the homeless, alcoholics, prostitutes and drug addicts of Oslo through parts of the Christmas holidays
  39. Being part of bringing a person back to life after he overdosed on heroine
  40. Been "on the road" in the USA with the rock band "Warrant" for about a week, living the true "Rock'n'roll life"
  41. "Worked" as a cowboy for a week, moving a big herd of cattle in the mountains of Wyoming, USA
  42. Married and later divorced, still today having a good relationsship with my ex-wife
  43. Been to an AA meeting
  44. Seen a Spaceshuttle launch live (not on TV) and witnessed a launching of a "rocket" from Edwards Air Force Base in California
  45. Meeting with, and interviewing, Eugene Cernan of Apollo 10 & 17 and NASA (so far the last man to walk on the surface of the moon.)
  46. Drinking Singapore Sling at Raffles hotel in Singapore
  47. Eating Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kentucky (as well as quite a few other places)
  48. Drinking Jack Daniel's Whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee (the home of Jack Daniel's   -   and a dry county), and drinking Port wine in Porto, Portugal
  49. Riding in a Hot Air Baloon (yes, I did get "Baptised", with champagne, fire and dirt)
  50. Visited 48 out of 50 US states (incl. Hawaii & Alaska)
  51. Had close, but not harmful, encounters with a full size Grizzly bear while in King Salmon, Alaska
  52. Seen a group of 11 wolves in the wild while in Katishna, Alaska
  53. Tasted a rattlesnake (cooked over open fire)
  54. Been swimming at Magens Bay, St.Thomas and Palm Beach, Aruba(two of the top 10 beaches in the world, according to National Geographic)
  55. Making my own moonshine and owning my own home-destiller
  56. Visited Aitutaki, Cook Islands (as close to heaven as you can get, without going through the gates of St.Peter)
  57. Attended a PowWow (Inter-tribal Native American festival of arts, craft, music and dance)
  58. Opened (and later sadly shut down) my own shop dealing in Native American Indian Art
  59. Having, and caring for, a New Foundland dog named Zombie for 11 and a half years (with the help of 4 "girlfriends" along the way)
  60. Gone barefoot-skiing (waterskiing without skis), and successfully made a distance of 125 meters/375 feet
  61. Eaten "Smalahove" (half a sheeps head), a Norwegian Speciality at Voss
  62. Eaten "Værballer" (sheep-testicles) and "rotten shark" at an Icelandic Christmas party
  63. Been swimming outdoors midwinters in a snowstorm at Blue Lagoon, Iceland
  64. Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, driving down Lombard Street and stayed in Chinatown while in San Fransisco
  65. Visited Spring Mountian Vineyards, the winery featured in the TV-series "Falcon Crest"
  66. Driven a Lamborghini Countach, a Ferrari Testerosa and a Hummer
  67. Swimming with huge Sea Turtles off Black Sand Beach on Hawaii.
  68. Riding in a glider-plane
  69. Preparing and cooking an entire Norwegian Christmas dinner for 12 persons
  70. Drinking homebrewed tribal beer with a Zulu-king in South Africa
  71. Seen "Big 5" (Lion, Buffalo, Rhinoceros, Leopard & Elephant) in one day at Mala-Mala game reserve in South Africa
  72. Spent 2 nights in one of the 2 the top suites at Palace Hotel, Sun City, South Africa. (Sting was staying in the other)
  73. Attending Stings first concert in Sun City after the ban was lifted
  74. Driving a Harley Davidson through parts of Route 66 (though my dad beat me to riding the whole of Route 66!)
  75. Awarded an honorary lifetime Member of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) in Norway
  76. Visited Alcatraz (the maximum security prison and island in the San Francisco Bay) with a former guard and a former inmate
  77. Stayed at Banff Springs hotel and Chatau Lake Louise in Canada
  78. Been skiing in Vail, Colorado
  79. Attended a Beach Boys Concert at a  beach party in Miami
  80. Seeing and hearing the band "Chicago" playing live in Chicago
  81. Seeing and hearing "Miami Sound Machine" in Miami
  82. Started a tradition of celebrating Halloween amongst good friends in Norway
  83. Being the first DJ to legally air a radiocommercial in Norway
  84. Appearing on the TV-show Jeopardy, and making it to the week finals (ok, I admit it was a celebrity-special, so we got easier questions than regular contestants)
  85. Taking part in the TV-show "Fangene på fortet" (Fort Boyard) and raising 35.000 kroners for WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature)
  86. Being present for the opening ceremony of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer
  87. Having bought my parents a Cruise onboard the SSNorway
  88. Taking my dad on a one week motorcycle trip around the southern half of Norway
  89. Had sex (with my girlfriend at the time) while driving on a major interstate at 75 miles an hour
  90. Had sex in a "very open" corner apartment, on street level, with all the curtains withdrawn, lights on, after dark
  91. Smoking Marihuana and cannabis, and used Amphetamins & Cocaine without ever abusing it, or getting addicted in any way.
  92. Welcoming the new Millennium (New Years Eve 1999-2000) from the middle of Times Square, counting down the year 2000 along with more than 2 million other people crammed together in the center of New York City
  93. Writing 2 travel-articles for the #1 weekly magazine "Se & Hør" in Norway, and having them printed
  94. Been invited home to a local Thai family while in Thailand for a genuine traditional Thai dinner
  95. Designing, drawing and partly building my own house (not living there anymore)
  96. Been celebrating May 17th (Norways National Independence Day) in New York City, on board a boat with Norwegians, all of which received a special telegram from the late King Olav of Norway
  97. Making a birthday present for King Olav the 5th of Norway, when I was 12 yrs old, and sending it to the Royal Castle, and thereby receiving a formal "thank you note" from King Olav
  98. Celebrating my 30 birthday in Moscow, at a "fancy" restaurant with a filmcrew and my girlfriend at the time
  99. Having a huge 30 yrs birthday celebration with my cousin, where 350 specially invited guests partied in the Quarters of Rabies MC (a motorcycleclub that later went on to be Bandidos MC Norway)
  100. Been on top of the 5 tallest buildings/constructions in North America. World Trade Center (New York), CN Tower (Toronto), Sears Towers (Chicago), Gateway Arch (St.Louis), Space Needle (Seattle)
  101. Picked up my girlfriend in a long streched limo, standing up through the sunroof with a bouquet of roses for her birthday (Ok, so Richard Gere did it first in Pretty Woman)
  102. And then on to the 101 things I still would like to do......
