And for the full version...
My first introduction to media was an assignment of making 26 weekly travel-reports from a 6 months honeymoon all around the U.S. in 1986. In the start of 1987 I started working full time for Radio 1, and stayed there for 11 years. The last 6 years of that period I was rated the most popular host.
With the arrival of Elmer (my son), I quit my job in September 1997. We travelled around the world for 3 months and back in Norway, I started working for Company Ralph Bolin, an Event/Marketing company with offices in 8 countries throughout Europe, and I got to be part of their first attempt on the American market, which was a huge success.
From spring 1998, I started my own company Stelmer Productions. I soon got a deal with P4 Event, where they hired my services for about 2 years. During this period i also did some freelancing for P4 Radio Hele Norge, which I still do.
"Over stokk og Stein" on TV
My televisionchapter started with a series of 20 travel shows for TVNorge, with the name "Over stokk og Stein". I hosted and co-produced the shows, which allowed me to travel to destinations like Reykjavik, St.Petersburg, Venice, the Bahamas, Mauritius, Egypt, Mexico, Carribbean Cruise, guesting the Zulu-tribe in South-Africa and a number of trips around the U.S.A..
We also ended up doing a travel show on our expedition to the North Pole in April 1993 (an idea, - that in all humbleness - was mine from the start) You can see more from this trip here. (only in Norwegian)
Stein on TV2 - Ærru Gæær'n...
My carreer at TV2 started in March 1995, when I hosted the Norwegian Miss Universe Show. TV2 then asked me to do a series for the summer, called "Resten av Nyhetene", an entertainmentshow, with two teams of celebrities trying to figure out if the news we presented were true or false. In the late summer I was asked to do another series called "Ærr'u Gæær'n", a show based on so called "bloopers" from film and TV all over the world. These were all produced live, on saturday nights, all throughout the rest of the year, with reruns continuing throughout the first months of 1996.
...and then back to TVNorge through "COLOSSEUM"
"COLOSSEUM" featured myself and Anne Marie Ottersen as the hosts, and was shot in Stockholm in October and November 96. It was a series of 11 shows, which aired from January 6th, 1997. An entertainment show with a lot of celebrities, and an even longer row of people with different skills and and talents.
RadioNett, the very first 100% internet radio in Norway
...was started on December 1st, 1999, by myself, Lise Askvik and Rafiq Charania. It was the very first time in Norwegian radio that anyone did a 2 hour daily talkshow.
Due to technical problems, and the fact that we were a bit too early doing this in Norway, the radio was shut down after only 4 months. But we were and will always be the very first internetradio in Norway!
With TV2 Summer Tour 2000...
..I went travelling to all different places in Norway. We started the tour: "Kysten er Klar" in Kristiansand, and then went to Bergen, Sandnes, Fredrikstad, Harstad, Skien and Bø, with Arists such as Christian Strand, Kim Kolstad (both from the tv-series Hotel Cæsar), Klovner i Kamp and Infinity. It was Gunilla Holm and myself that hosted the tour, which was a support tour to the TV-show "By-kampen" on TV2.
"Behind the Camera" and on "Big Brother"
- In the fall of 2000 I co-produced a new Travel Series called tur:retur that was aired on TVNorge that season. We went to destinations like Kenya, Pakistan, Philippines, Vietnam, Canada, Portugal and Israel to name the most exciting ones. The host of this show is Mette Aakerholm, with a side-kick host named Lisa Tønne, a stand-up comedian.
- In the summer and fall of 2001, I was working on, and producing, a show called FarOut, which didn't really turn out a success, due to a number of different factors.
- In the first half of 2002, I produced the second round of Big Brother for TVNorge. It rated quite good, though of course not as good as the first year.
- The summer of 2002 I was doing the afternoon show at P4 Radio for 5 weeks. I also was a part of the "Great P4 Test", being a passenger/reporter in a P4 car, having the listeners drive me all the way from Oslo to Northcape in a period of 2 weeks.
- In the end of 2002, I produced a new travelshow-series with Elin Tvedt. We went to Geneva, Chamonix, New York, Paris, Monaco, Valencia and Lisbon with guest celebrities. The shows were aired early fall 2003.
- The first 5 months of 2003, I again produced Big Brother. The 3rd season rated about 20% higher than the second season.
- The second half of 2003, I freelanced for P4 Radio, both as a reporter and host, and also helped put together two major events celebrating P4's 10 years as Norways biggest and only nationwide commercial radiostation.
- The last couple of months of 2003, and the first months of 2004 I spent with Lasse Hallberg, helping to develop, and put together his new Reality concept "Singel 24-7". We produced 60 shows that were aired on TV3 from February through April. TV3 almost doubled their marketshare, much thanx to this concept.
- The summer of 2004, I will spend working for P4 Radio
